PEACE AND QUIET FILLS MY HEART

After receiving 2-3 inches of snow overnight, I set out to photograph this recent snowfall along Eakin Creek West on this 2nd day of the New Year. The temperature was in the mid 20's with little to no wind and overcast conditions. Over the years, I have come to notice that the creek usually doesn't completely freeze over and that the creeks edges can form some pretty cool ice patterns, which makes for some good photography. As I was moving along the creek, north-northwest on this January morning, I was looking for some good composition which included the movement of the water over rocks and the reflections of the box elder trees that line the banks of Eakin Creek West. It doesn't take long to come upon the section of the creek that I enjoy. It opens up with a few box elder trees along the bank in which I can isolate to photograph them and their reflection on the creek. The creek is a typical mid west creek, slow meandering with some nice reflections from the surrounding subjects. I photographed this section of the creek for about an hour coming away with some beautiful images of the box elder trees and their reflection onto the creek. Just because it is overcast and gloomy, doesn't mean it will be an ordinary day, it can be beautiful or inspiring, some days you have to look for those special moments. (684-3381)
